BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Praveen Sarojini Gopinathan is an experimental physicist and science enthusiast with over a decade of research and four years of teaching experience. He has an extensive interest in Condensed Matter Physics, Nanomaterials and devices, Spectroscopy, etc. He has achieved about 150 citations and has an h-index of 6 in a short span and filed one patent to his credit. Dr. Praveen is one of the few people in the world who got expertized and contributed significantly to the field of Nano-clusters. He has also explored various properties of Nano-clusters synthesized by different physical and chemical methods and developed various usable technologies. Dr. Praveen is an Associate Member of The Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, and also an Early Career Research Member of “OPTICA”, the Optical Society of America

CURRENT RESEARCH

  • Synthesis of various nanocluster assembled materials of metals and alloys to study its electronic, magnetic, and optical properties and sorption kinetics. 
  • Study of photoluminescence properties of various nanomaterials
  • Surface acoustic wave (SAW) and resistance based hydrogen gas sensors with milliseconds response time using nanocluster assembled films
  • Various hybrid nanocluster assembled structures for high gravimetric capacity hydrogen storage
  • Design and development of various customized UHV deposition system, which are cheaper and versatile than commercial systems. 
  • DFT simulation of materials for self-assembled monolayers , metal organic frameworks, organic molecules etc(IR, Raman, UV –VIS , NMR Spectra, Structural Simulations, potential energy mapping, NLO activity etc)
  • The biological activities of pharmaceutical and toxic materials are under investigation using UV-VIS absorption data, and fluorometric assay, which reveals drug-DNA and drug-protein binding characteristics with the supported from FTIR, FT-RAMAN, and molecular simulations.
