The program was organised as a tribute to the legendary scientist Dr. M S Swaminathan. The program was inaugurated by Dr. A. K. Sreekala, Principal Scientist (Rtd.), JNTNBGRI, Trivandrum.She commemorated the great scientist through her lecture and this was followed a contest where the students of the department made power point presentation on the life and contribution of Dr. M S Swaminathan. Ms. Sneha Chandran , II DC Botany won the first prize and Faizal Sha and Devika J of III DC Botany won second and third respectively.

In observance of National Wildlife Week 2023, Department of Botany organized a talk on “Wildlife: Live and Let live, Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation” on 06 October 2023 at Audio Visual Theatre. Sri S Bala Sankar, Dy Range Forest Officer was the Resource person for the programme.

Under the auspices of PG and Research Department of Environmental Science and Department of Botany, a One day Seminar has organised on 15 September 2023 in observance of International Day for the Preservation of Ozone Layer along with Conservation initiatives of Medicinal plants at the Botanical Garden. Dr Jude Emmanuel, Environmental Scientist was the resource person.

A seminar was conducted in connection with Botany Association inauguration on 18/02/2020 which was attended by 127 students. In connection with the seminar, an exhibition “Plantae’”on plant and plant products was organised by the students of the department. The exhibits attracted other students of the department and they visited in great numbers. The main event was on the day was lecture on Nanobiotechnology by Dr Neethu Hari, Department of Biotechnology, University of Kerala, Kariyavattom.

Seminar was organised in connection with Botany Association inauguration on 25/02/2019, attended by 110 students. In connection with the seminar, distribution of tree saplings and inauguration of green eco club was done. Dr Shajivaz, Retd. Head and Associate Professor, Iqubal College, Peringamala was the chief guest. This was followed by a presentation on career option for life science students by the chief guest.

Seminar on “Genomics in a nutshell” was organised by Department of Botany Sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Human Resource Development under star college scheme on 21/02/2017. The seminar was attended by 107 students. The topic of the seminar was elaborated by Prof. K.K Rajeev. The topic was discussed in detail through a one-hour presentation by the speaker. After the talk the topic was open for discussion and few students asked relevant questions to the speaker and the discussion was more informative.
